Dear Friends,We often hear people speak of a sense of pervasive mood or line of thought amongst those around them - of "vibes" that can't be justified by external events. Many of us have experienced entering a room of people and being aware of a common mood before any external confirmation is apparent. Such perceptions indicate the increasing sensitivity and subtlety of the race. We find, too, that the same ideas will begin to be apprehended at the same time in several places around the globe - evidence of that larger pool of ideas into which individual thought may penetrate or to which it may become susceptible. Scientists are deducing and creating demonstrations of the presence of particles which, to physical perception, are present one moment and return to potentiality the next. They demonstrate energy fields and the unseen dimension on which memory is imprinted and which influences the structure of matter subsequently placed in the same area. This is the external, "scientific", view of what we can experience through those aspects of our being which inhabit the subtler dimensions.
The extent of this great sea of energies in which we "live and move and have our being" is only grasped when we free our consciousness from the grip of the familiar and from the fear of the unknown, of loss of known personal identity which we have become accustomed to defining in external, worldly terms. As we ourselves are far more than the vehicles of each life, each incarnation, so is the world far more than the external, material view in any moment in time. We have been told: "faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen". Not seen, perhaps, in purely physical terms yet perceivable by a consciousness that pervades the subtle dimensions, corresponding with the divine: "having pervaded the universe with a fragment of Myself, I remain."
In the last newsletter a number of authors were quoted as they, too, were examining globalisation as an indication and a result of the inner shift in humanity towards a growing sense of universality. Operating within this sense, it is not surprising that our thoughts are all expanding in similar directions and embracing the same essential idea. This sense of universality presents the appearance of life in a different perspective - whether it be our immediate circle, our country, the world, the solar system or beyond. It brings about a shift in values along with an expansion of our sense of proportion. We begin to see the personal as only meaningful in terms of the whole. Our individual life objectives gain significance only in terms of Life's purpose expressing through our planet. We are becoming aware of the interconnectedness of all lives as integrated elements of the One Life.
As realisation speeds up, the universal context, Space, is no longer perceived as a void - it is full of potentials, possibilities, immanent discoveries, realisations and manifestations. In space, time becomes a figment of perception - a mechanism for translating the one life into the many expressions of it. We begin to understand space and time as the divine playthings. The Tibetan Master, Djwhal Khul, reminds:
"We speak at times of an expanding universe; what we really mean is an expanding consciousness, for this etheric body of the Entity, Space, is the recipient of many types of informing and interpenetrating energies, and it is also the field for the intelligent activity of the indwelling Lives of the Universe, of the many constellations, of the distant stars, of our solar system, of the planets within the system, and of all that constitutes the sumtotal of these separated living forms. The factor which relates them is consciousness and nothing else, and the field of conscious awareness is created through the interplay of all living intelligent forms within the area of the etheric body of that great Life which we call SPACE."
It is inspiring then to read that: "The glory of man lies in the fact that he is aware of space and can imagine this space as a field of divine living activity, full of active intelligent forms, each placed in the etheric body of this unknown Entity, each related to each other through the potency which not only holds them in being but which preserves their position in relation to each other; yet each of these differentiated forms possesses its own differentiated life, its own unique quality or integral colouring, and its own specific and peculiar form of consciousness."This is the context within which the will to express results in the forms - forms which, to an ordinary and external view, we call "life". But in our journey into the realisation of oneness (our return as the prodigal sons) we realise that we are each "a point of light. This point is conscious, immutable and aware of the two extremes of the divine expression: the sense of individual identity and the sense of universality. These are fused and blended in the ONE. . . it is realised that there is no identity apart from universality and no appreciation of the universal apart from the individual realisation."
Each "knows or is learning to know that he is not this or that, but Life Itself. He is not the physical body or its emotional nature; he is not, in the last analysis . . the mind or that by which he knows. He is learning that that too must be transcended and superseded by intelligent love (only truly possible after the mind has been developed), and he begins to realise himself as the soul. Then, later, comes the awful 'moment in time' when, pendant in space, he discovers that he is not the soul. What then is he? A point of divine dynamic will, focussed in the soul and arriving at awareness of Being through the use of form. He is Will, the ruler of time and the organiser, in time, of space. This he does, but ever with the reservation that time and space are the "divine playthings" and can be used or not at will."
Because we "live and move and have our being" upon and within our planet within the Entity called Space, we are energetically "in touch" with everything else and a whole new dimension of expression opens before the expanded consciousness. Within the scope of that consciousness we can be everywhere present, have access to all knowledge from past and future and can contact those with whom we have a line of rapport. We are only limited by any specific purpose within time and space and the part our purpose has in the unfolding expression of the greater Life of which we, ourselves, are a part. We are told that the intent of the Spiritual Hierarchy, in supporting that unfolding purpose, is " to increase men's capacity for freedom in order to function effectively with that 'life more abundantly' which the Christ will bring and which demands that the spirit of man be free - free to approach divinity and free also to choose the Way of that approach."
The following Mantram embodies how we may freely live that "life more abundantly":
I am a point of light within a greater Light.
I am strand of loving energy within the stream of Love divine.
I am a point of sacrificial Fire, focussed within the fiery Will of God.
And thus I stand.I am a way by which men may achieve.
I am a source of strength, enabling them to stand.
I am a beam of light, shining upon their way.
And thus I stand. And standing thus, revolve
And tread this way the ways of men,
And know the ways of God.
And thus I stand.* * * * * *
The Easter Festival in Aries will be celebrated at a meditation meeting to be held at 8pm on Tuesday, 18 April, at the YWCA, 5 - 11 Wentworth Avenue, Sydney. The theme for reflection is:
"I come forth, and from the plane of mind I rule."
