Dear Friends,
We can celebrate humanity's achievements or bemoan its failures - but let us consider what great currents are sweeping through world affairs, through time and throughout the planet, as the sleeping power of humanity stirs and begins to breathe the subtle airs of spirit. A planetary life is moving to full realisation and events are no longer either negative or positive (in and of themselves) but part of a greater event that ripples through all and carries us all with it.

From that perspective humanity becomes a participant in the "larger than (the little) life" events. Indeed humanity has its own crucial part to play - unique as its own nature, capacities and potentialities are. Our animal nature, and all its primordial history, places us in line of understanding and empathy with the subhuman kingdoms - both instinctively and scientifically. Our inherent divinity through the oneness of consciousness becomes known and achievable, guided by those great Lives Who have preceded us into those dimensions of being. We are in a position to synthesise the expression of all being and have deployed ourselves so that we are in connection with all aspects of the material planetary life. Yet throughout history we have sought constantly the inspiration and empowerment of the spirit.

It lies then in our hands (and in no others' in the planetary life) to bring about the coherence, cohesion and coordination of the multiplicity of life forms and the many lines of relationship between them and the whole of the One Life we share. By necessity the evolutionary expression of oneness has started from the outside, the form life, the material world and its distracting and confusing diversity - but its inspiration is the wholeness and oneness of life which drives us through the illusions and glamours of the material consciousness into the sense of synthesis. Once that realisation is achieved we work from the centre, the source, from the point of spirit - the lesser form identities are released as identification with the truth of our Being becomes our reality.

Harmony through conflict is certainly a keynote for the middle or 4th kingdom in nature - the human. For it brings the two great aspects, Spirit and Matter, into harmonious relation through the evolutionary expression on the planet. The pivotal moment is immanent - when a consciousness conditioned by conflict, division and separation gives way to a consciousness that sees all aspects related and connected within one interdependent and coordinated whole. All that then remains is the realisation of the place of each and every aspect within the whole - and that can only be seen when we perceive from the whole and not from any partisan or exclusive view.

We may take up our place in any one lifetime and in any one part of the world through particular aspects or departments of world affairs, but our consciousness is the consciousness of oneness and the energy which flows through that consciousness is radiatory, magnetic and powerful beyond belief though we "know it not" - for it is the energy of the greater whole. The moment our consciousness descends to self-consciousness, in that moment, the flow is cut off and we become part of the flotsam moved mindlessly and unaware by the greater current of being. Our destiny is God-consciousness or identification with the whole of life - then we see clearly whereas now we "see through a glass darkly". In the book, Leave of Morya's Garden, we read:

"Across the deserts, seas, and mountains,
You transport yourselves in one breath.
And there, face to face, we meet.
There is no space. Time exists not.
The power of knowledge is manifested.

Is it easy to soar when you have wings?
I shall say, it is easy for those who sense their wings.
But those for whom the cup of worldliness is sweet, fly not.
Chained to their idol, their delight, whither to fly?
By experience will you learn the fruitlessness of earthly desires.
It is simple, for all things are simple.

Soar with your thoughts. Fly by affirmation.
Fly by love.
And you will realise the joy of flying.
And the gulf of life will remain far below you.
And a miracle of flaming colours will radiate near the splendour of the Southern Cross.
All is attainable."

The Tibetan Master speaks of this new "point of tension" which centralises and empowers life energies:

" … that moment of exquisite sensitivity which appears just as the life within reaches the point of 'breaking forth' into the light. It is that moment of alert conscious anticipatory direction which distinguishes the runner at the Olympic games as he stands poised for his supreme effort and test. … the moment when you switch your identification with that which you do, away from that act of doing (which is in reality only an effect of an initiating cause or motive) into the world of origins, of motives and causes. In that supreme moment of tension you relate life and form, the fluid and the concrete; then an organism, and not an organisation, takes shape before your eyes."

He also opens a door in consciousness to a new era with these words:

"It is difficult … at this time to comprehend the nature of man when he has dropped all physical urge to conflict out of his conscious life experience and when the urge to combat (upon the physical plane) has faded completely out of the human consciousness."

Yet that is the goal. Our constant search for "peace" by any and all means, within limits of current understanding, is an affirmation of the inherent sense of oneness in the human heart. The following extract from an "Invocation for Peace" touches the energy of the greatness that is always present and available:

" There is a peace which passeth understanding;
it abides in the hearts of those who live in the Eternal.

There is a power which maketh all things new;
It lives and moves in those who know the Self as one.

May that peace brood over us, that power uplift us till we stand where
The One Initiator is invoked, till we see His star shine forth."

The Festival in Libra will be celebrated at a meditation meeting at
8pm on Tuesday 28th September, at the YWCA, 5-11 Wentworth Avenue, Sydney.
The keynote for reflection is:
"I choose the Way which leads between the two great lines of force."
