Dear Friends,
Life is a self-fulfilling prophecy - dynamic and self-initiating.
Life-force withstands time; raises mountains and brings them
down again; causes floods, droughts and abundance; creates new
species and then allows them to extinguish; stretches the mind
to take in new frontiers and dimensions; tests the emotions to
develop strengths of fortitude, persistence and loving interrelationship.
It peels away the layers of ignorance, illusion and glamour,
which distort its reflection, and leaves finally beauty and truth,
naked and vulnerable to its vast intentions.
We, on our own tiny scale, mirror this in microcosm like fragments
of a fractured glass basking unaware in its greatness. Through
life experience we learn that in the final analysis we can only
reflect the greater life which flows through all; that each one
of us is not a separate life unto itself. The only real achievement
possible is not just to mirror what we see but to allow
life to flow through us - to be as a clear sheet of glass
and reflect the immensity, grandeur and true beauty of that great
reality. In book I of "Leaves of Morya's Garden" we
read:
"When through the tatters of your temporary bodies shines
the splendour of your spirit,
Are you not filled with strength and joy?
And are not all your beings united in the joy of that labour
of your spirit?
And then am I near to you.
And then does your ear discern the soft sound of My step."
We come closer to the wonder of life when immersed in a common
mind, motivation and endeavour. Self-awareness - of the separate
self - drops below the level of awareness and the vehicles we
inhabit respond instead to the greater intention of the group.
The individual personality "disappears" from our field
of awareness yet forms part of the group persona which is the
automatic enactor of the group will. This comes close to the
experience of the Olympians, poised as one before the race, immersed
in the focus of the moment and in touch with a new greatness
beyond all past knowledge.
The immensity of the life in which we participate is described
in these extracts from the Tibetan Master:
"
the entire universe is etheric and vital in nature
and of an extension beyond the grasp of the greatest minds of
the age, mounting into more than astronomical figures
This extent cannot be computed, even in terms of light years;
this cosmic etheric area is the field of untold energies and
the basis of all astrological computations; it is the playground
of all historical cycles - cosmic, systemic and planetary - and
is related to the constellations, to the worlds of suns, to the
most distant stars and to the numerous recognised universes,
as well as to our own solar system, to the many planets, and
to that planet upon which and in which we move and live and have
our being, as well as to the smallest form of life known to science
and perhaps covered by the meaningless term "an atom".
All are found existing in Space - Space is etheric in nature
and
Space is an Entity.
The glory of man lies in the fact that he is aware of
space and can imagine this space as the field of divine living
activity, full of active intelligent forms, each placed in the
etheric body of this unknown Entity, each related to each other
through the potency which not only holds them in being but which
preserves their position in relation to each other; yet each
of these differentiated forms possesses its own differentiated
life, its own unique quality or integral colouring, and its own
specific and peculiar form of consciousness.
We speak at times of an expanding universe; what we really
mean is an expanding consciousness, for this etheric body of
the Entity, Space, is the recipient of many types of informing
and penetrating energies, and it is also the field for the intelligent
activity of the indwelling Lives of the Universe, of the many
constellations, of the distant stars, of our solar system, of
the planets within the system, and of all that constitutes the
sumtotal of these separated living forms. The factor which relate
them is consciousness and nothing else, and the field of conscious
awareness is created through the interplay of all living intelligent
forms within the area of the etheric body of that great Life
which we call SPACE.
each point of life within a centre has its own sphere
of radiation or its own extending field of influence; this field
is necessarily dependent upon the type and the nature of the
indwelling Consciousness. It is this magnetic interplay between
the many vast centres of energy in space which is the basis of
all astronomical relationships - between universes, solar systems
and planets. Bear in mind, however, that it is the CONSCIOUSNESS
aspect which renders the form magnetic, receptive, repudiating
and transmitting; this consciousness differs according to the
nature of the entity which informs or works through a centre,
great or small. Bear in mind also that the life which pours through
all centres and which animates the whole of space is the life
of an Entity; it is ,therefore, the same life in all forms,
limited in time and space by the intention, the wish, the form
and the quality of the indwelling consciousness; the types of
consciousness are many and diverse, yet life remains ever the
same and indivisible, for it is the ONE LIFE."
There is a simplicity in life, yet a simplicity of a different
order to what we might ordinarily deem "simple". It
is an immensity which simplifies external details into part of
a greater flow from the inspiring life - like drops in an ocean
that move as one - indivisible, whole and powerful beyond imagination.
The pain of an ordinary life is eclipsed and transcended when
our consciousness moves in the halls of that greatness. We are
told: "Neither pain nor anxiety can overwhelm the man who
dwells in the consciousness of eternity."
We are also told that: "Simplicity and unity are related;
simplicity is one-pointedness of outlook, free from glamour and
the intricacies of the thoughtform-making mind; simplicity is
clarity of purpose and steadfastness in intention and in effort,
untrammelled by questioning and devious introspection; simplicity
leads to simple loving, asking nothing in return; simplicity
leads to silence - not silence as an escape mechanism, but as
an 'occult retention of speech'
Simplicity connotes the
blueprint that 'substands' the outer structure of creation, of
living, of loving and of service, and this is true of a solar
system, a planet, humanity or the individual." Simplicity
is the hallmark of the coming consciousness.
THE COMING
The coming will be very quiet
When it comes.
It will flow in so softly
Like a transparent veil,
Weaving between and around and within,
A floating infusion,
And Love will find its voice
Among us all.
So quietly shall it come
That one day
Someone who's turned back to look
Will say
"See how far we've come!"
And none will look,
For in their hearts they'll know
The truth of the Joy
That is The Coming. L. Stubbs
International Day of Peace Vigil: In September 2001 the
United Nations General Assembly decided that an International
Day of Peace be observed on 21 September each year and that "this
date to be brought to the attention of all people for the celebration
and observance of peace". The General Assembly invites "all
Member States, organizations of the United Nations system, regional
and non-governmental organizations and individuals to commemorate,
in an appropriate manner, the International Day of Peace, including
through education and public awareness, and to cooperate with
the United Nations in the establishment of the global ceasefire."
In celebration of this day, the International Day of Peace Vigil,
an initiative representing a number of religious and spiritual
groups and a broad segment of civil society throughout the world,
welcomes further support. The Vigil is "a grassroots effort
to bring a 'spiritual dimension' to the peace process. As such
there are no sponsors of this movement. Instead we have asked
groups, organizations, religious traditions and individuals to
participate in the Vigil by meeting certain criteria." Amongst
these criteria are "(to) promulgate the Vigil idea among
its membership and encourage individual participation" and
"(to) promote the idea to at least one additional organization/group."
International Day of Peace Vigil encourages "worldwide,
24-hour spiritual observations for peace and non-violence on
the International Day of Peace, Tuesday, 21 September 2004 in
every house of worship and place of spiritual practice, by all
religious and spiritually based groups and individuals, and by
all men, women and children who seek peace in the world." |
