Dear Friends,

We are constantly inspired by the examples of those who transcend their limiting circumstances to shine in the world - the Beaconsfield miners who laid no blame for their accident and were the source of encouragement to each other and their rescuers through mutual trust, little Sophie Delezeo who still smiles amidst continued physical pain and injury, the East Timorese people who suffered decades of oppression and brutalization and yet persist in the face of death to seek freedom for their nation. These are the most current examples we hear of - there are untold millions of others who are all part of the unfolding beauty of our world.

As we watch news of issues, accidents and conflicts, often degrading into wars and further brutalisation, it is easy to condemn now this side, now that - now this individual or faction, now that - out of a desperate and hasty need to attribute blame/cause and eliminate it. We can become so caught in the reactive forces that we sink to apportioning blame according to the immediate situation rather than seeing through it back to the true originating cause or forward to the ultimate outcome of any retaliatory action. Such unconsidered reaction arises from a small, separative mind of limited vision and understanding which can contaminate through its reactive dynamic. And it is through the direction of our thinking that our energy flows - empowering perhaps the very issue we would wish to resolve. And at our core, our heart, we know this.

It is a great, true and essential heart that can see through anger to the fear within and dispel it, to see through hate to the beauty of the soul which has been dispossessed and draw it back into expression. It is the wisdom of the soul who sees itself reflected through all things. When the divisive power of the analytical mind is disciplined into a useful and worthy instrument for the one spirit and the heart resonates with the heart in all, then can the truth and beauty of essential life be seen and, through our seeing, be illuminated, recognized and drawn forth into the world.

The reality is that every human being is an integral and equivalent unit within the cohesive synthesis that we call the human family - no matter their nationality or ethnic background, spiritual tradition or political ideology, their degree of conformity with human ethics or morals, their physical or intellectual capacity, their beauty or creative talents, their knowledge or ignorance, their personal attractiveness or otherwise, their limitations or lacks. Each one plays a part because they are a part of the whole. Each makes their impact in their location - geographical, emotional or mental. Each is a window through which the essential psyche of humanity may shine into our world. Each and every one of us is an entrance for the spirit of life itself.

Our value in any moment in time and space is not in our own ambitions, our personal comforts and successes, but in how much of the human psyche we emanate into the world. At any one moment we are all demonstrating a moment on the path of realisation towards this, individually and, more truly, collectively. This is our power, our strength and our ultimate achievement of destiny. The more purely the radiatory inner being emanates into the world the more illusory conflicts resolve, dissolve and become replaced by the greater reality of our oneness. The one life we share not only sustains but augments each of us through its sharing because it draws through the power of the whole: "My strength is as the strength of ten because my heart is pure." The more purely the heart allows divine life to flow through the more potent the impact.

The power of our creative imagination is that it can take us into this greater reality. The glory of the human mind is that it encompasses the universe and beyond - effortlessly. The heart connects us to the life beat of the universe - automatically - and the mind sees and knows it. Both mind and heart are expressions of that spiritual being which, ultimately, is all there is anywhere and everywhere - it is the essence of the mind, heart and the many forms.

When we withdraw to that point at the centre within our heart, beyond any current personal identity, we are then within the heart of everyone and everything in the scope of our awareness and beyond - and they are within ours. The more deeply we move into the central heart of humanity and then the world the more enhanced and augmented our vision and its emanatory power. In the book, Heart, from the Agni Yoga series, we read:

"… one cannot conceive of the unity of humanity by way of the brain or the kundalini, but the radiance of the heart can bring together the most seemingly varied organisms, even across remote distances. This experiment, of the unification of hearts across distance, awaits its workers." [Sloca 339]

"… that very heart which tirelessly throbs lest people forget it - the most tender, the most intense, the most responsive to that which is near and most far." [Sloca 340]

"One can understand how greatly the ritual aspect of Yoga was demanded in ancient times, but now we should ascend by way of direct communion with the highest world. The Yoga of Fire leads one upon this shortest path without abandoning life. This comprises a departure in the new understanding of rapport of the worlds. Before us we have an example of a significant step in the so-called Samadhi without withdrawing from life. … The value of such a manifestation consists in that the usual rules of concentration are transcended. Precisely, the entire significance is transfixed in the heart - in other words, the significance of the entire rapport of the worlds is centred there. …I beg you to guard the heart from outer and also inner disturbances. Extreme measures should be taken to withstand all attacks. It must be understood that yesterday is completely different from tomorrow, so unheard of is the rotation. Unprecedented are the clouds and one must encounter them joyously." [Sloca 206]

It is the effect of time and space unfolding that creates the illusion of separate moments and elements appearing to conflict. At the point where we realise that we are one another, we can see conflict as the illusion it is - diverse expressions of the one spirit. The more we see of the pattern of life unfolding the more we realize its cohesiveness, balance, beauty, its economy and practicality. The pattern speaks to every element within it and sings the vibration of life through them all. From the book, Fiery World II, sloca 258 calls to the heart:

"…we cannot often explain in words whence arises this joy, as a forerunner, but it comes to visit us on a light-winged ray of Hierarchy. Who knows from what infinite source sounds the call to joy? How many know that already the time of manifestation of joy has approached? But the law is immutable, and therefore joy is a special wisdom. How long ago this was said! But in spiral evolvement it gradually becomes real and comprehensible. Likewise grows the heart, and the consciousness, and fiery wisdom. We do not see how the grass grows, but we perceive the evidence of the growth. So too with the joy of achievement."
