Dear Friends,
How perfectly designed we are for synthesis and for our role in the unfolding life of our planet. Our capacity to group things together, to categorise and connect, to tackle the big issues by seeing the parts that make them up and to trace the lines of connection that bring them about, to congregate along lines of common interest and yet to seek out the new and assimilate it into previous modes until the old is no longer recognisable. We reveal these capacities through our creativity which mirrors back to us the breadth and wonder of our inherent human nature. Life breathes through us and through all within the planetary sphere and as our awareness grows and responds we begin to recognise its great motivating power as it drives us on – however blindly we may stumble and delay the awakening.
Much is revealed through the emergence of the technological and telecommunications advances. High speed broadband, wireless connection and mobile devices connect us more and more powerfully and immediately to each other and to our resources of knowledge and expertise. As we take these up we move into the subtler realms of imagination, visualisation and the creative realms of virtual living. We can move instantly between one point of focus and another, between “places”, contacts, ideas, topics and disciplines selecting the levels to which we wish to penetrate. The explosion of choice forces the development of finer and still finer discernment and discrimination – though many are caught in the shoals and eddies of such a vast flood.
Human consciousness is moving into abstract realms. Our children play computer games, and interact via phone, email and electronic chat rooms. Speed, immediacy and the capacity to deal with an expanded diversity of subject and expression takes them beyond our shores to new frontiers of endeavour for which they must develop new capacities, modes of interaction and patterns of law. Our sense of reality has extended beyond the bounds of physical sight into larger conceptual dimensions.
The reality of climate change has reminded us that every action lets loose a longer term effect, every thought gives birth to actions and every emotion can motivate to heal or harm – beyond our immediate physical environs and down through time. We see through the outer events and actions. Increasingly the motives and agendas become apparent. Those in public view come under scrutiny and we demand more integrity, honesty and dedication from our leaders. We are approaching the point of requiring a government by the enlightened of the race or those who can demonstrate a standard for us to attain to.
To this point in time humanity has progressed through the trial and error of the evolutionary process. Increasingly, however, we are abandoning the dynamics of the form world and its brute force and “survival of the fittest (form)” approach because we see it leading to the destruction of the whole in which we also live. We recognise that the past methods ultimately destroy what we wish to protect and that “those who live by the sword also die by the sword”. As things “speed up” outcomes reflect their cause more clearly and more immediately. We begin to look for the initiating causes before acting to redress a problem. We are going behind the surface distortions to seek the real … to find the true pulse of our living.
Rather than accidentally gaining understanding through the hazardous and wasteful process of trial and error we are turning the dynamic around. As it develops its inherent capacities the humanity of the new civilisation starts from a point of understanding. We are realising that we cannot create truth – it already IS – but we can begin to create truly or in line with truth. The false is eventually seen through as the illusion it is and accelerating time carries us towards this realisation.
And all is moving under the power of divine will. We are free to exercise our own little wills within that great compass but always we are imbued by the forces that drench our being and our living – moving within that larger sphere mostly unaware as sheep moving to avoid the shepherd’s dog or the precipice that threatens. Realisation is dawning, however, as consciousness and its attendant identity shift from the external to the subtle world of values, meaning and quality. Thus progresses the journey of the essentially spiritual being, Humanity.
The Tibetan Master, Djwhal Khul, explains the shift of consciousness from the Laws of Nature to the Laws of the Soul:
“…the Laws of Nature are imposed upon the mass of men, and cannot be avoided. If these laws are broken, infringed or evaded, they carry their own penalty within themselves, and this cannot be avoided. These great protective laws are intended to guard the personalities through which the soul incarnates and eventually to cement and further all the great and possible relationships. The man passes through the stage of antagonism (as an individual) to the control of these natural though divine laws, to a recognition of their inevitability and of their wisdom. They automatically then control him.
When this control by the Laws of Nature has become complete, the man becomes an aspirant and begins to come under the Laws of the Soul, which are laws concerned primarily with the establishing of the great Fellowship of the Universe. There has been much confusion among esotericists upon these points. They confuse the discipline to which the personality has to submit when coming under soul influence, with the Laws of the Soul which have naught o do with the petty little affairs of the personality – unimportant and unnoticed by the soul on its own plane – but with the growing recognition of right group relations; these are based on a growing understanding of the hierarchical mode of work and of inter-hierarchical relationships. The Laws of Nature, therefore, concern the activities of the soul in form and are mandatory and accepted by the form nature. The Laws of the Soul concern the life of the soul upon its own plane, and the relation which the blending soul and personality learn to establish with other souls and with the (spiritual) Hierarchy. These are consciously and voluntarily obeyed, and are not just accepted as mandatory and as forced upon the man by force of circumstances, experience and evolution. They tend to bring about increasing relation between the Hierarchy of Souls and Humanity as a whole, between the great planetary centre which is the custodian of the principle of love and the planetary centre, humanity, which nurtures and distributes the energy of mind.” 156 – 157 Rays and the Initiations
Beyond these laws we move into the realm of the Law of Life or of Spirit for the initiate: “From acceptance of the laws of nature and obedience to the laws of the soul he passes into the positive phase of understanding and wielding the Law of Life…. This law is concerned with the wielding of energy in the world of the Spiritual Triad and not with the distribution or the transmission of this energy to the three worlds in which average humanity habitually dwells. Right wielding of this law (controlling energy in the initiatory world of causes) automatically brings about activity, movement, force expression, and right distribution of these forces in the lower three worlds. These are, under the evolutionary law, direct reflections of the three higher worlds of the triadal light and life. Motivation, the use of the eye of vision (turned this time by the initiate functioning in the world of causes upon the worlds of human living), and the correct direction of force in cooperation with the hierarchical Plan condition all the activities of the initiate working with this law.” 157 – 158 Rays and the Initiations
As humanity moves further into the more abstract realms – or as it abstracts itself from the concrete world of form it comes into its power, the power of the One Life we share. Growing understanding leads to realisation and free choice, based on that understanding, leads the great disciple, Humanity, onward to fulfil its true role under divine intention – to glorify the Life of which it is a part.

The Easter Festival in Aries will be celebrated at a meditation meeting at 8 pm on Monday, 2 April, at the YWCA, 5-11 Wentworth Avenue, Sydney. The keynote for reflection is:
I come forth, and from the plane of mind I rule.
