Dear Friends,
Everything begins with a thought. Some thoughts are so automatic - such as the thought to move one's body in walking - that we are no longer aware of them at the forefront of our consciousness. A kind of "body learning" takes over and these thoughts drop below the level of our awareness and become deeply buried in the subconscious. Where these automatic thoughts are related to old outmoded ways of thinking about the world, they create veils across our view of the future and impede the emerging revelation of the true expression of our planetary life. For the individual, these veils can inhibit growth in understanding and expansion of consciousness.
However, there are always those who see further and who draw us through the veils by the power of the network of relationship which exists between all things within the living embrace of the One in Whom we live and move and have our being. Love is the connection which opens the heart to that living web of relationship in which we dwell and through which flows life, love and understanding. The more deeply we enter into this infinite chain of life, the more open we are to its unfolding truth and the freer we become from old thoughtforms that have passed their usefulness - their "use-by" date - and have become imprisoning veils.
Perhaps the greatest of these old "thoughts" is the idea of isolation and separation - of being cut off behind the barriers of an individual personality which acts as though it is the centre of a world view. The power of this thoughtform controls even when we know, intellectually, that the world of being is driven from a far greater centre than that of the little atomic lives within it. Just as we might love and care for the cells and parts within our own physical bodies or the experiences of our emotions or the thoughts of our minds, so the Greater Life loves and cares for all our atomic lives. Because we are immersed in it, we are that Great Life. Realisation only is wanting while we move to dispel the veils.
This transiting movement is part of a great unfoldment and each new civilisation brings us closer to the truth. New realisation sweeps in like the ocean's waves and, as we stand at the water's edge, washes away those thoughtforms which no longer serve. There is such a dawning - such a groundswell - in human consciousness as we move into the new millennium and glimpse the new emerging civilisation and its expression through a new culture. Yet as long ago as 1940 the Tibetan Master wrote: "A great and vital thoughtform is in process of construction upon our planet and within our planetary aura. It is being built by the power of sound, by the magnetic pull of invocation leading to eventual evocation, and by the force of desire-substance, animated by the power of thought. It is being constructed by the united efforts of the (Spiritual) Hierarchy, of the world disciples and aspirants, of the men and women of goodwill in all nations, and also through the inchoate longings of men everywhere, of all religious beliefs, political views and group loyalties." [The Externalisation of the Hierarchy p223]
Increasingly the oneness of our planetary life and the interconnectedness of all its aspects is clarifying in human minds. A new world view is being born, despite the painful resistance of the forms, as described by John Stewart:
"The potential of a global society to produce immediate benefits to humanity will drive its emergence. Cooperation on a global scale has the potential to increase economic performance, abolish war and famine, and achieve environmental sustainability. Crises that extend across the borders of any one nation and therefore cannot be solved by nations acting alone will boost the impetus for global cooperation. Just as the World Wars evoked forms of international governance .., global warming will demand the establishment of regulation that extends across the planet.…The emergence of the evolutionary world-view has the potential to overwhelm (any) apparent conflict of interests. The worldview has the power to unify humanity behind a common purpose and provide us with the energy and perspective to respond effectively to the problems and potentials that face us. It will energize and motivate us to fulfil our evolutionary destiny of global cooperation." ["Evolution Toward Global Cooperation", Kosmos Vol VII No 2. See http://www.kosmosjournal.org/ ]
The power behind this new worldview is the collective wisdom that brings it to birth. As Steve Nation explains:
"Experiences of collective wisdom suggest to me that there are dimensions and subtleties to group fields that go beyond the strictly human, incarnated, realms. It is as if during particularly aligned group processes, the invisible worlds reach into the human. If this way of thinking seems strange it serves well to remember that throughout history mythical, poetic dimensions of spirit, mind and heart have been a living presence for most human beings in most parts of the world. Think about the dream-like forms great spirits have taken down the ages: ancestors, deities, angels, devas, saints, rishis, immortals, avatars, masters... It is the rational, literal mind-set of modernity that is out of keeping with the multi-dimensional, multi-layered understanding of the Real." ["Inspiration From Invisible World", Kosmos Vol VII No 2]
The poet, Rumi, invites: "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing
There is a field. I'll meet you there."
And from the scientist's perspective: "The common ground of all…great faiths is to be found in their essence: mystical insight. Insight, by its nature, is experiential. It cannot be effectively taught, or preached, or read about, except by way of analogy, allegory, or, most clumsily, dogma. But the testimony of the mystics seems eminently convincing. Whether one is a Christian quietist, a Jewish Kabbalist, a Muslim Sufi, a Hindu yogi, a Buddhist Tantrist, or a Zen master, when you get down to the level of religious epiphany, the experience is the same: dissolution of ego boundaries, a merging of the observer and the observed, a union with the one source of all. Contrary to the scientific bias that mysticism is a vague, metaphysical thing, the mystical experience itself is evidently of great clarity; otherwise, how could so many from such diverse backgrounds describe it in such similar terms? … we… uncover - through a quick dip into quantum physics - that when we penetrate to the deepest level of reality, we seem to find an undivided totality, an 'emptiness' that is - paradoxically - full. The more we learn, the clearer it becomes that the precepts of mysticism differ from those of modern physics mostly in language and methodology. Could it be that the common experience of the mystics has an analog in the 'unbroken wholeness' of the quantum physicists?" [Code Name God by Mani Bhaumik]
The beauty of this moment has been captured in these lines 'heard' by a co-worker:
DESTINY'S FACE
And in that distant fading light "Its Father Christmas!", cried the child. They all knelt down, their knees obeyed |
He filled up every nook and space. They danced and laughed the night away, "My brothers and sisters and I are one", came the cry, And so they danced in the light of love, |
