Dear Friends,
The great movement forward from a competitive consciousness to a living sense of the whole can be seen unfolding inexorably throughout our world. It is working out through our individual areas of responsibility as well as through the breadth of focus of families, groups, states, nations and groupings of nations. Most inspiring are the amazing initiatives that bring individuals and groups back into connection with the greater life that has the capacity to sustain, heal and grow all within its embrace.
A small church group in Australia may raise funds to build homes for orphans and widows in Rwanda; a little boy in Canada may attract donations towards the building of a well for a village in Africa; doctors may work in refugee camps around the world to help mend the shocking desecrations wreaked on the innocent; a politician of integrity may speak out against a system that is expedient in the moment but at long term cost; a leader may motivate his people towards a more positive and inclusive mode of interacting through social, financial and international connections; a group of parents from both sides of a violent conflict may come together in common grief for their fallen children; a victim of criminal acts raises support for other victims; a meeting between a family and their daughter’s murderer allows them all to move forward; and all human beings no matter where they are wish and long (in whatever way they are able) for a sense of true value, of belonging and of peace within which to grow their potential to contribute to the world – however misguided or distorted the forms and actions these longings may take, when viewed from a progressed future perspective.
We are all transiting towards the new while still responding to old habits of expression, recognising those which must be replaced with new responses that are more in line with the world we wish and will into existence. For we are ever in process of creating the next moment. Even from the individual and personal perspective we may often realise just how quickly we can jump to conclusions and make damning judgements based on limited understanding of all the factors contributing to a situation or an individual’s action. The vehicle careering dangerously through traffic could perhaps be driven by an insensitive and arrogant driver but that driver could equally be someone desperate to reach a dying loved one or bring an ill person to hospital, or he could be a victim of forces that disturb the personality’s grasp on that world we collectively experience as “real”.
A moment’s release of irritation – that separative and judgmental energy – stains the atmosphere as potently as any physical fog. And it doesn’t make the situation any better. In fact it arises from the same self-centredness that we object to in whatever is the focus of our irritation. If we react we are contributing to the very aberration we wish to change. It’s true that often on the surface of events there may be nothing one can do in the moment to improve the situation, but a positive, wise and loving alignment with the greater life always has effect whether seen outwardly in the immediate moment or subtly working throughout a larger whole and time-span whose pattern may not be immediately discernible. We are all growing out of an understanding that has become too small for us.
There is a new world order emerging through this realisation. In this order, where understanding is sought rather than vengeance, identification with the essential and true nature of all human beings opens the door to that deep sense of relationship which draws all parts of the whole of the human community into their right place, function and point of coordination, thus becoming so much more than merely the separate part they may previously have thought they were. This is inevitably being created by all parts of the one life in which we share – some with more vision than others – but all coming in their time to that point of recognition and effect. Because every act, every movement, has impact and consequences (whether in mental, emotional, energetic or physical substance) the best direction for each movement to take becomes abundantly clear.
We learn by experience – individually at first and increasingly in group realisation and then in massive movements in consciousness which sweep through humanity and thence the planet as a whole. And we are led along the path by the living demonstration and light of those of the race who see ahead to all the consequences and to the path that must eventually be followed to reach the glorious and inevitable future. For we are told: “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (Corinthians 2:9-11). This glory is ever present and awaits only the opening of vision.
In James Twyman’s book, “Emissary of Light”, the Teacher explains that: “Our mission is not to bring peace to where it isn't, but to reveal peace where it is hidden.” He advises: “Seek those parts of your mind that are blocking your experience of peace. When you have discovered these blocks and dissolved them in love, then peace will be revealed—first in your mind, then in the world. … We do not try to end wars, but to dissolve the untrue ideas that cause war. We see peace even when it is hidden beneath centuries of hate and fear. By experiencing the reality of peace, we overlook the unreality of conflict. This is how the Emissaries heal the world. … Violence and conflict are the masks the world wears to keep from seeing the peace that lies beneath the surface. You will heal the world by taking off the mask, by showing the beautiful reality that has never changed.”
Early last century the Tibetan Master wrote: “…when a thoughtform has been constructed of sufficient potency and has been built over a long period of time by the people of the world, a further and final stage becomes ever possible. The form can be rendered so magnetic that it can attract an Energy which will inform it and give it active potency; it can then become a vital link between the subjective world of energy and the objective world of forces and a thing of power, of impelling and guiding activity, and therefore the expression of a Life. This thoughtform, duly informed, becomes a mediating factor, constructed by humanity but animated by the will-to-good of some great and spiritual Entity… A great and vital thoughtform is in process of construction upon our planet and within our planetary aura. It is being built by the power of sound, by the magnetic pull of invocation leading to eventual evocation, and by the force of desire-substance, animated by the power of thought. …but lacks vitality and power upon the mental plane. It is here, within the realm of thought substance, that the weakness of the structure of this thoughtform becomes apparent.” [Externalisation of the Hierarchy page 224]
Today we are experiencing a floodlight of clarity and perception opening human consciousness to the realities – always present but not previously seen. Outer events (ever the late effects of expanding understanding) are at odds with the dawning realisation of our connectedness within a world we share and serve. The human soul is entering a sunburst of solar activity as each atomic life realises it is the Life in which it lives and moves and has its being because there is no other life – there are no other selves. Boundaries and barriers are becoming transparent between forms and dimensions. The fiery essence at the centre of all atoms recognises itself everywhere. The more deeply our identity moves within that essence, the broader the vistas that open out until we see and know the Whole.
A new humanity is emerging and the Tibetan writes: “…On the physical plane, without any exoteric organisation, ceremonials, or outer form, there is integrating—silently, steadily and powerfully—a group of men and women who will supersede eventually the previous hierarchical effort. They will supersede all churches, all groups, and all organisations and will eventually constitute that oligarchy of elect souls who will govern and guide the world….
They are being gathered out of every nation, … by the power of their response to the spiritual opportunity, tide and note. They are emerging out of every group and church and party, and will therefore be truly representative. This they do, not from the pull of their own ambition and prideful schemes, but through the very selflessness of their service. They are finding their way to the top in every department of human knowledge, not because of the clamour they make about their own ideas, discoveries and theories, but because they are so inclusive in their outlook and so wide in their interpretation of truth that they see the hand of God in all happenings, His imprint upon all forms and His note sounding forth through every channel of communication between the subjective reality and the objective outer form. They are of all races; they speak all languages; they embrace all religions, all sciences and all philosophies.
Their characteristics are synthesis, inclusiveness, intellectuality and fine mental development. They own to no creed, save the creed of Brotherhood, based on the one Life. They recognise no authority, save that of their own souls, … and humanity whom they deeply love. They have no barriers set up around themselves, but are governed by a wide tolerance, and a sane mentality and sense of proportion. They look with open eyes upon the world of men and recognise those whom they can lift and to whom they can stand as the Great Ones stand,—lifting, teaching and helping. They recognize their peers and equals, and know each other when they meet and stand shoulder to shoulder with their fellow workers in the work of salvaging humanity. It does not matter if their terminologies differ, their interpretations of symbols and scriptures vary, or their words are few or many.” [A treatise on White Magic page 399-400]
