Dear Friends,

It seems that the world is gradually emerging out of and discarding old structures of thought, interaction and operation. It is as though it is becoming open to something new, more expansive and vastly different to what we have known to this point. Perhaps it is so new that our old consciousness is prompted to transform in order to apprehend that “something” which seems to hover almost within reach. A new discipline arises in maintaining an openness to what is emerging rather than hastening to interpret the first glimpses of new understandings in terms of the old and all too familiar forms and succumbing too soon to the innate urge to create and manifest.

All that we see manifest in the world is the flowering of thought. Thought is the seeding which opens the door for Life to express. And as there is a constant, ongoing clarification and deepening of thought so its external flowers bloom, fade and give way to new blooms and new seeds form. We are told that:
The will-to-good of the world knowers is the magnetic seed of the future. The will-to-good is the Father aspect, whilst goodwill is the Mother aspect, and from the relation of these two the new civilisation, based on sound spiritual (but utterly different) lines, can be founded.” [The Rays & the Initiations, page 110]

In a sense we are always poised at a point between what must be left behind and that which is pressing to be born. The new consciousness stands at that midway point within the eternalnowwhere the power of past and future, harvest and seeding, Mother and Spirit meet and Life radiates through all. The evil we see in the world is the result of thought which may have been the best at the time but which no longer serves an expanded understanding. Allegiance expands out from family to community, to nation and eventually focus becomes human-sized and abuses hidden within the narrow confines of earlier loyalties are exposed and new understanding begins to redress them. The Tibetan explains the impact of a growing understanding and the thinking which radiates new energies into the world:

“… all disciples are energy centres in the body of humanity and are in process of becoming points of focussed, directed energy. Their function and activity always and inevitably produce effects, results, awakenings, disruptions and reorientations in the lives of those around them.

… Essentially the influence of a disciple of the Great White Lodge is fundamentally good and spiritually conditioning; superficially and in its outer effects—particularly where the disciple is concerned—difficult situations, apparent cleavages and the emergence of faults as well as virtues upon the part of those affected make their appearance, … until the person thus influenced becomes what is called ‘occultly reconciled to the emanating energy.’ Ponder on this. The adjustment has to come from the side of those influenced, and not from the disciple.” [Esoteric Healing, page 122-3]

The point at which we are neither attached to past successes nor future outcomes is a point of tremendous power where all things are possible. Attachment is like the mooring rope of a ship that holds it to the wharf unable to heed the call of new oceans, new discoveries and new worlds. While being held thus horizons are limited and possibilities narrowed. But freed from old securities we find that new concepts are openings for inspiration.

The ideas, concepts and thought structures that are emerging for the New Civilisation are more expansive in scope, more organic in interconnection and more evolutionary in expression. And so we find emerging new approaches to managing group inspiration such as Open Space Technologies and Appreciative Inquiry. If we narrow our view to the firmly established and relatively immobile thought structures of the past we won’t be able to see the flexible, creative and innovative new structures emerging pervasively throughout our modern world. These express a new consciousness not constrained around a separate and individual life but fluidly sweeping all into a life-sharing field of being, knowing and expressing. They are like the tides in a new ocean moving the individual drops which while having separate form yet merge completely and fluidly, lending mighty power to their composite life and rhythmic living.

As Christopher Fry wrote, “affairs are now soul-sized”, and so demand that our ideas and thoughts be soul-sized also in order to collaborate with the mighty forces they express. We find that many established institutions by their very rigidity can no longer provide the care and guidance they have in the past times of slower growing and change. Solutions to emerging new needs are increasingly brought about through groundswell movements of the human heart. Community response and direct relationship between the needy and the compassionate are moving to the forefront out of a growing sense of the common humanity we share. So we approach that time when we may no longer speak of “my soul and thine” but live through the whole of Life.

Our differences are withdrawing from the foreground and becoming the orchestration behind the soaring melody of the human heart as it begins to respond to all aspects of our planetary life and comes to realise its role of care-giver and nurturer of the planet and all life within its embrace. Just as the marriage relation lifts the creative process into a shared living purpose and common endeavour, so are we wedded to the Earth in a mutually enriching symbiosis energised by Life which pervades all. This is in process of being realised as we move beyond the failure of exploitation and begin to participate more fully in the life of the One in Whom we live and move and have our being.

Wecanfeed the hungry. Wecanprovide shelter for all. Wecaneducate the illiterate. Wecan provide health care for all. Wecanresolve conflicts. Wecanhalt climate change and land degradation. We can bring justice and right balance to all relations – human, animal, plant and mineral – and it will happen as we expand beyond individual desire and dedicate our inspiration, coordination and effort to the needs of our planetary life creatively, wisely and purposefully when we respond to true inspiration. And we can recognise the one wisdom of all peoples. As Chief Crazy Horse, of the Oglala Sioux once said:

"Upon suffering beyond suffering: the Red Nation shall rise again and it shall be a blessing for a sick world. A world filled with broken promises, selfishness and separations. A world longing for light again. I see a time of Seven Generations when all the colors of mankind will gather under the Sacred Tree of Life and the whole Earth will become one circle again. In that day, there will be those among the Lakota who will carry knowledge and understanding of unity among all living things and the young white ones will come to those of my people and ask for this wisdom. I salute the light within your eyes where the whole Universe dwells. For when you are at that center within you and I am that place within me, we shall be one."

For this new moment in time in which we now stand the Tibetan wrote: “We are—if it could be but realised—in process of re-interpreting and re-arranging what can be called ‘the doctrinal structure underlying the relation between knowledge and wisdom.’ This involves the destruction of old concepts …, and the assembly of those new and more correct ideas which must inevitably be substituted for the old, as the unfoldment of (divine will) is presented to (all) upon the Path. This, through certain later activities, will gradually seep downwards into the consciousness of humanity, and the new world religion will be founded upon a deeper spiritual perception of the … Life Aspect, in place of the rapidly crystallising vision of the … consciousness aspect. … the higher processes of spiritual unfoldment must consciously give way to a much higher phase of perception, for which we have, as yet, no word. In relation to consciousness, we speak constantly of initiation; in relation to this new process of simultaneous perception and interpretation, we employ the rather vague word ‘identification.’” [Discipleship in the New Age, volume I, page 403]
