Festival of Aries

Keynote for Festival of Aries:
"I come forth, and from the plane of mind
I rule."
The sign of hope and resurrection.
Who is The Spirit of Resurrection?
In Aries, the sign of the Lamb, we celebrate the Festival of Easter. Let us consider,
- what opportunity does this festival present?
- What or Who is the Spirit of Resurrection?
We are told by the Tibetan Master in Externalisation of the Hierarchy [p.458]:-
"... this Spirit of Resurrection is the opponent and the antagonist of the Spirit of Death.
Physical death takes place only when the psychological and mental vitality of the individual, or a nation,
or of humanity drops below a certain level.
... psychologically, mankind has been ruled by selfishness, and selfishness is the potent seed of death - material death,
psychological death and mental death."
The Sun of Righteousness
The "Sun of Righteousness" can now arise with healing in His wings
The Tibetan Master speaks of the Christ as the Spirit of Resurrection. In Externalisation of the Hierarchy [p.458-9] He tells us:-
"It must be remembered that this Spirit of Resurrection is a Member of that Council [at Shamballa] and Their chosen Emissary. He (if one may be permitted to personalise the impersonal) is in truth the "Sun of Righteousness" Who can now arise "with healing in His wings"; Who can carry this life-giving energy which counteracts death, this vision which gives incentive to life, and this hope which can restore all nations.

The Labours of Hercules
Labour I: The Capture of the Man-Eating Mares
In her book The Labours of Hercules, Alice A. Bailey shares some of her insights into the sign of Aries, in which Hercules sets out with confidence to kill the brood mares, symbols of wrong thought, wrong speech and erroneous ideas which had been devasting the countryside. The following are extracts from pages 27-38 of her book.
The Conquest of Matter
Gaining mental control and overcoming illusion
Alice Bailey throws light on the significance of the beginning of the twelve labours of Hercules :-
'The conquest of matter and the overcoming of illusion loomed large before Hercules and indicated from the very outset of the twelve labours the nature of his final achievement.'
Further we are told that this task begun in Aries "to begin in the world of thought to gain mental control" is not completed until his ninth labour in Sagittarius.
The Sign of Mind
Aries governs the head
Alice Bailey tells us that :-
"Aries governs the head. It is consequently the sign of the thinker and, therefore, a powerful mental sign. All beginnings originate on the mental plane and in the mind of the creator, whether that creator is God or the soul of man."
The Sign of Hope and Resurrection
Aries governs the head
Hercules is filled with hope and confidence at the outset of his journey - a confidence in his ultimate success even though he might experience failures along the way (as he does).
Alice Bailey speaks of two urges in Aries, to begin life in form, and to liberation or resurrection out of form :-
"In the Brahmanical zodiac, Vishnu presides over Aries and Vishnu is the second person of the Hindu Trimurti, or the cosmic Christ in incarnation ... Thus Vishnu or Crhist emodies the two urges, the urge to create and build form and the urge to liberation , or resurrection out of form. It is under this urge to liberation that Hercules starts upon his labours."
